Signor Franco Restaurant

If you like the constant interruption of "Happy Birthday to you", overpriced food with the possibility of hair in your meal then Signor Franco is for you.

Six of us went to Signor Franco. Signor Franco is an Italian restaurant offering traditional Italian dishes and is set upstairs with rather attractive windows at the front which were originally part of a conservatory from Hever Castle.

After getting the slightly tacky looking menu we were slightly shocked at the prices with soup being up to £7.00 (it would have to be the best soup in the world). Mains started at around £10.80 and once we got over the initial shock we went ahead and ordered. For the prices we were expecting very good food indeed.

Three of us went for the Halibut which was a special, one for Prawns and Scallops, one for Sea Bass and I went for the Beef Slices, rolled and stuffed with parmesan. Service was ok and food came out very quickly, possibly a little too quick and we all enjoyed the house white and house red which were both good.

All the meals were ok and were enjoyed by all but they did not come with vegetables or potatoes which had to be ordered as side dishes. This is normally not a problem but when you consider the prices of the food you would expect these to be included. So overall the food was ok.

After finishing it was noticed that one of the Halibuts had a hair included. This was reported to a rather embarrassed looking waiter and this meal was taken of the final bill.

So would we go again?

The food was ok but it was not worth the money they are asking even with the free hair. If they reduced their inflated prices and also stopped the constant tacky "Happy Birthday to you" interruptions then we would possibly try Signor Franco again. Until that time Signor Franco rates very low for us so we will not be going again any time soon.
